Why Baffled Construction Matters in an Underquilt

One of the biggest differences between underquilts is how they’re constructed. Many budget quilts are sewn-through, meaning the inner and outer fabric are stitched directly together. This compresses the insulation at every seam, creating cold spots where heat can escape.

The EmberNest Underquilt uses true sewn-in baffles—a separate strip of fabric between the inner and outer shell that allows the insulation to fully loft. This keeps warmth evenly distributed across the quilt and prevents cold seams from forming underneath you.

Consistent Warmth Where Hammocks Lose Heat

In a hammock, bottom insulation is critical. Pads can shift, trap moisture, or feel awkward, while underquilts hang beneath the hammock and insulate without being compressed by your body weight. The EmberNest’s baffled design maintains loft even as you move, helping deliver consistent, draft-free warmth throughout the night.

Who the EmberNest Is For

The EmberNest is built for hammock campers who want reliable warmth without overcomplicating their setup. It’s ideal for spring, fall, and shoulder-season trips where nighttime temperatures drop, and for campers who prefer the simplicity and comfort of an underquilt over sleeping pads.

Designed to Set Up Easily and Stay Dialed In

A full adjustable suspension system allows the EmberNest to fit a wide range of hammocks. Once dialed in, it stays in place—no constant re-adjusting, no cold gaps. Synthetic insulation continues to perform even in damp conditions, making it a dependable choice when weather is unpredictable.

If you want consistent warmth, real insulation loft, and a quilt that performs when temperatures drop, the EmberNest Underquilt is built to keep you comfortable below the hammock.
